United Inspection Services was formed in August 1993 as the result of a private acquisition of the Jim Thorpe operation from United States Testing Company, Inc. (USTC) an SGS Inspection Company. USTC had been providing complete on-site inspections and quality control, industrial inspection services, and laboratory testing including Geotechnical Investigations for numerous clients in the industrial and commercial sector.

Prior to Jim Thorpe, most of the personnel were involved with USTC at the Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant, Berwick, Pa for up to 13 years. The company structure consists of a Manager of Operations, Lab Director (PE), Lab Manager, Project Manager, Geotechnical Consultant and various Concrete, Soils, Testing Engineers, and Structural Steel Inspectors/Technicians.
United Inspection Services employs a variety of inspectors, most of which are ACI and Nuclear Density Gauge Certified. Other certifications and training include PennDOT Concrete Field Testing Technician, PennDOT Certified Bituminous Field Technicians, Windsor Probe Testing, ACI Strength Testing Technician and Face F-Number measurement using a Dip Stick Floor Profiler.
United Inspection Services laboratory is regularly inspected by Army Corps of Engineers, CCRL, AMRL, and PennDOT and continues to participate in the AMRL proficiency sampling program.
